INDIANAPOLIS–Today, the Indiana Senate approved Senate Resolution 44, which honors several African-American leaders from Madison and Delaware counties who have contributed to their communities and to the State of Indiana. Senate Democratic Leader Tim Lanane (D-Anderson), who authored the resolution, issued the following statement upon its passage:
“As Black History Month comes to a close, I wanted to highlight the contributions that African Americans have made in Senate District 25 and to the state as a whole.
“Black History Month is a time to reflect on and honor individuals who have influenced the United States. This resolution is a way to recognize Hoosiers who have greatly contributed to East Central Indiana’s history and strength.
“It is important to bring awareness to our communities about Hoosiers who have helped shape Indiana.”
